Last night I did 10 min on the eliptical and tried the stair climbing machine for the first time. Like the machines that look like a staircase. Holy workout. I only lasted 10 min. It was such a good workout. I’m going to start incorporating that crazy machine more. I also did my strength training routine. Then I came home and had a bunch of steamed green beans and baby carrots with some NS meal which was meh. I also through in some of TJ’s tereyaki tofu. I’ve been on such a tofu kick lately. I’ve liked it for awhile but lately i’m craving it for some reason. For dessert I had a little bit of light vanilla soy milk and an NS cookie. Then finished my project and went over the the bfs. As you may have noticed I’ve cut down the number of workouts I’m doing since I’m consuming less calories on this diet. My goal is 3 times a week.

This morning I had a half caffeneited cup of coffee, NS cranberry granola bar and an Oikos vanilla yogurt. I have a pear for a mid morning snack too.

So on to the title of my blog. I occasionally email back and forth with my college love. Now let me clarify my bf now is my 1st REAL love but this guy was def my college love. You know the guy you wasted the majority of your college years (and even the year after) going back and forth with. Anyways I think deep down he is a good guy (really deep though like you have to really get in there haha) but he is so confused in life I think. First of all Van Wilder style he didn’t graduate college until 2 years after we all did. Then hasn’t had a real world job yet. I got an email from him today saying he has been avoiding talking to me because I have my life together and he doesnt and I think it finally hit him he can’t be a college kid anymore. I feel bad for him but I think its funny how to him I have my life together. And I mean I kind of do but just comes to show you that none of us have it ALL together. I mean I’m still torn about career changing and all that jazz. Anyways just thought I would share this interesting piece of info for my randomness of the day.

I better ge to work. Until lunch my friends.

Change has come

So exciting that Obama won and this is all FINALLY over. I felt so American yesterday and proudly wore my “I voted” sticker. It was my first time voting too.  I came home last night and had an NS Pizza and then headed to the Young Democrats party at the bar with the bf. I had a draft Blue Moon as we watched the results start to come in. It was soooo packed very intense. They also had some of the lower level election winners from Arlington make some speeches. We went home around 10 and I promptly passed out at 10:30 while the bf stayed up. At that point I knew Obama would win I was just curious to see which way my state VA went and my home state of FL. Oh I also had an NS brownie when I got back to the bfs.

I hope I’ll be able to attend some of the inaugural events in Jan when Obama is sworn in!

Anyways this morning I had a cup of coffee and a peach fage when I got to the office. I had an NS cereal before I left the house. I also have a bananna for a mid morning snack.

I wish we had today off haha, until lunch my friends…

I Voted!

So I got my butt out of bed at 5 ish this morning, got dressed, packed my lunch, and set out to go vote. Luckly its not a freezing day so that helped and I found an awesome parking spot at the school where I had to vote. There were probably only 10 spots in the lot and somehow I came by at the right time :) . I got there about 6ish and it took my almost exactly an hour. I wish I had, had more info on some of the questions to vote for, I had to blindly vote yes or no for them. Oh well. After voting I marched on over to starbucks for my free tall coffee! Of course there was a line too. Krispy Kreme is giving out star shaped doughnuts which I think is cute. There aren’t any around here and to be honest I do not need a doughnut so no biggie.

Soon as I got to work I fixed up by Starbucks with some half and half and splenda. There coffee is so strong to me I’m wiried now. I also munched on a NS Choco chip granola bar. I have an Oikos vanilla  and an apple for a mid morning snack.

I can’t wait to see what happens tonight. I mean either way we are getting some history happening so thats exciting. I really just hope the next pres jumps right in and fixes things up so people like me can not worry about quitting their jobs and going back to school!!

Speaking of school I decided I’m gonig to sign up for the “virtual” College Chem 1 class at the community college. I decided on virtual because its hard to truck on over to the school 2 days a week. With the virtual you watch 26 30 min videos and have a few labs on saturdays. I know it is going to be tough and prob more work but at least I’ll have the flexibility. In order to qualify as a transfer for VA Tech Nutrition program you need to complete Chem 1 and 2. So I’m hoping to do Chem 2 during summer session.

I woke up late AGAIN this morning! What is with me. I wonder if I have my alarm set for 7pm not 7am. I’ve been known to do that. Oh well. I got ready in 20 minutes some how then walked out to my car and the windshield was covered in ice ugh! I looked around and no other cars had ice on it, whats the deal? So I ran in and got my trusty little ice scraper.

Back up a step actually last night was fun. I went to happy hour with the girls from work. So fun. Except it took us 40 minutes to drive the 2 miles to get there. RIDIC! I hate DC traffic.  So we got there around 6:30 and each got a margarita (marg) it was very yummy. I munched on a handful of chips and a quesidilla wedge. It was good and filled me up. Then I went to class extremely late. But hey at least I made it! I still hit tons of traffic even at 7:30 to go to class. The traffic around here wears me out.

This morning I had my cup of joe NS Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin, and a Fage with peach. I love fage with peach its my fav. Such a yummy combo. I have an apple for later too.

At work they are doing trick or treating around the office at 10! There is a day care in our building so they are bringing the little tikes around. So cute. Then back to work and meetings boring. Hopefully the day will go fast!

Why is it not Friday yet??

I’m so ready for the weekend.  Ok so dinner last night I had green beans from a can. I’ve never had them from a can before but I saw my roomie eating them one day and wanted to try them. I know if I’m going to take the easy route that frozen are better though. They test fresher too. I’m a big fan of the Birds Eye Steamer bags especially the individual serving ones. I also had NS Green Pepper Steak and Rice. And somehow some candy corn snuck in my mouth :) .  I read for a few then went to the bfs and passed out immediately like always. There is something about his place that makes me instantly pass out. At my place I can never fall asleep. Weird. Does that happen to anyone else? I think it drives him nuts he calls me the “pass out pro”

I also got a quick 30 minute job/walk in on the tredmill. I’ve never been a good runner but the last few months I had been trying to build up endurance but I havent been running much lately and feel like I’m back to square 1. Bah. I just want to be able to run 2 miles with 90% running! One day I’ll get there.

This morning I had a cup of half decaf, half caf coffee. This is my new thing and its much better i’m not so jittery anymore. I also had a glass of milk before I left the house because I was a little hungry. While drinking my coffee I also had an NS PB Granola bar. I have either a pear to eat as a midmorning snack.

So today is my weigh in day. I’ve been on NS 2 weeks and lost 2.8lbs. Not bad but I lost 2.6lbs the first week which means I only lost .2lbs this week which I found totally interesting since the first week I was eating out a ton since the fam was in town. Maybe it was water weight the first week and now its actual weight? Thats my guess. i’m not stressing it though.

Overslept

So I forgot to set my alarm at the bf’s this morning and woke up at the time he does an hour later than I usually get up. Oops! I feel kinda refreshed though. My boss got in later than I did so no biggie. It’s her bday today so we’re going out to lunch and apparantly somebody brought cookie cake. I freaking love cookie cakes.  I’m going to try to contain myself and eat only a small piece and bring the rest home to the bf since every night this week he has called me and asked if I have any dessert items at my house haha. I’m like I’m on a diet you’re asking the wrong person! Unless he wants to eat an NS cookie :)

Oh and for dinner last night I had NS Mushroom Rissoto and Brussel Sprouts. Brussel Sprouts used to kill my stomach but thankfully my tummy doesn’t mind them anymore because they are yummy. It was a nice little dinner. We got a table for our kitchen over the weekend so my roomie and i ate together and read people and gossiped about the celebs. Other roomie had to work until 10 poor thing.

I made it to the gym last night whoohoo! I did 15 min on the elypitcal and then ran/walked 15 min. Then did some weights. Felt good. packed my gym clothes again today to go after work.  Since I did weights yesterday I’ll probably just do cardio. I’ve never tried the step machine that looks like a staircase I might attempt that one tonight. Then maybe run some more.

Breakfast was a 0% Fage with a splenda, Cinamon Swirl NS Granola Bar, banana, and half caffeneited coffee. So I know splenda is the devil as well as other sweetners of its kind but since I am trying to watch my cal intake and on NS I decided to keep using it instead of honey or agave for the time being. Just until I’m off NS.

So i kept thinking it was Friday this morning, so disappointing! I got my shipment from Nutrisystem (NS) last night, whoohoo. So diet started today. I weighed myself finally and I don’t want to even say what I’m at because it’s disappointingly high. But ok I’ll say, I’m at a whopping 149 eek! I was 134 last March and it was a steady gain over the summer with the work stress. But I got a new job in August so whats my excuse for the last 2 months? Umm yea don’t have one. Anyways I’m going to get serious and make good choices.  My roomie said she wants to do NS too which would be so great to have a diet buddy. I’ve never had a diet buddy all my friends are too skinny :) .

I debated on whether there was even a point in taking pics with this diet since its all prepackeged food for the most part. But this moring I though hey it wont hurt to see what it looks like.

So for breakfast you can have 1 dairy/protein serving, 1 serving of fruit, and your NS breakfast entry. I made scrambled egg whites as my protein serving. 1 serving is equivalent to 3 eggs. So i had 1/2 cup of the egg whites from the carton. Which was a little too much for me I’ll try 1/4 of a cup next time. I don’t HAVE to have the whole serving. I had that around 7:30. Just now at 9:30 I had a plum. It was a big one.

 

Then for my bfast NS entry I have a Cranberry Granola Bar which I will most likely eat around maybe 10:30 or 11? I’m pretty full right now.

Diet Update

So the scale seems to be going up lately not down. So I took the step to sign up for Nutristystem again. I know I know I said I would never do it again. But you hey it worked last time. I just need to stick to a strict plan for the time being until I get back on track and start losing. I am reaching the piont where i’m almost at my heaviest again eek! So I had to take some DRASTIC measures. So my food is supposed to come in most likely sometime this week. I’ll still keep you posted on what I’m eating and my progress but just an fyi.

I got a great email today from my sorority Tri Delta. They started a new campaign to deal with eating disorders and body image issues for women. There campaign is to end “fat talk” for this week. Here is the link. I think its a fantastic idea and def something I relate to.

Anyways thats my soap box speech for the day.

Until my food arrives I’m basically trying to use up some of the items in my fridge. This morning I had an egg white and english muffin breakfast sandwhich. I put some buffalo sauce on it to to spice it up (literally). It was super filling I was impressed.

I’m also have a lunch date with my old coworker/friend at Le Madeline.

Workin Holiday

So I decided to come into work today and save my “holiday” as a floating holiday and use it for a long weekend. The bf and I usually do weekend trips for bdays instead of presents so his bday is in November (18th) and his choice was a trip to Philly. So I’m trying to plan out the logistics. So that should be really fun! Plus i just love planning stuff!

Weekend was great. Friday night i vegged and caught up on dome dvr shows. Saturday i got a haircut and mani and pedi. I got a dark color so I feel very fall. It was OPI Siberien Night.  I decided Im bored with my hair so im going to get highlights. I’m being brave I haven’t colored my hair since highschool and am pretty happy  with my natural color but i wanted a change of pace. the hairdresser who i love his name is Chris and works at Bubbles Salon at Pentagon City Mall for any DC readers. He said he loves my natural color and doesn’t want to ruin it so he said the words subtle, coffee, and chestnut and I was sold. So i’ll fork over way too much money for that next weekend. Then sat night had a date night with the bf dinner and a movie. Dinner was fabulous. We went to an italian place where they had amazing foaccacia and olive oil and an amazing starter salad and i ordered spinach gnocchi in a cream sauce and walnuts. YUM!!! I also had a glass of red wine some sort of blend. I’m a fan of blends. Then we went to go see that Bill Maher documentary about religion forgot the name (not my choice in movie) but it was suprsingly entertaining and really made me think see a different perspective.

Sunday we went to the  REDSKINS game! So fun and such a pretty day out. Plus who doesn’t love free stuff! First met up with the bf’s manager at his tailgate. His manager of all people was trying to get my drunk and kept refilling my beer haha. After the tailgate we went up to the box seats. I felt like a high roller i loved it. What a great view of the game I could get used to that. Then we enjoyed some free beer and wine and food. Unfortunately all the food was pork (hot dogs, pulled pork sandwhiches, baked beans) and well i’m allergic so I ate salad and one to many cookies.

what a fun weekend it ended watching a little brothers and sisters. i love that show.

Ok so I decided THATS IT i’m procrastinating taking these extra 15lbs I gained this summer. I’m tired of only having 1/4thof my wardrobe to choose from since I don’t fit into most of it. So I’M GOING BACK TO WHAT WORKS! Which is calorie counting. It’s a huge pain in the ass but lets face it, it gets the job done. So starting today I started logging my cals into an onlinefood log. I used to use Calorie Count which I really like but just for a change of scenery I’m going to try out Spark People.  On top of that I’m going to push myself during my workouts to get more of a cal burn.  I’m going to adjust my cal limit for the day based on my activity and exercises I get for the day. I think this will help me not feel too restricted (ie i exercises i get to eat more if i dont I eat less, simple math really).

Anyways so as for the food has my usual cup of coffee and my overnight oats. I’m pretty obsessed with this breakfast if you didnt notice. 1/2 cup oats, 1/2cup vanilla hemp milk,agave, and cinnamon.
