Finally got to eat some pears!

I bought some pears from whole foods but the stupid things aren’t ripe and its taking forever. they are hard as a rock so i think its going to be awhile. Anyways I went on a lunch date with the bf to the Nordstroms cafe and got their blue cheese and Pear Salad with candied walnuts and champagne vinigerette. mmmm. very yummy. i of course wanted to buy everything in site at the store too bah. i love nordstroms.  the bf needed some face wash and moisturizer. I have him using the good stuff lately i’m so proud. So he asked me to go to Sephora and help him buy some more.

So class tonight means quick gym trip. 30 minutes on the tredmill is on the agenda. I’m still trying to master 20 min of running without walking. it is proving to be quite difficult. i was doing fine with the couch to 5k until now and haven’t been able to conquer this one. 

Then I’m off to Nutrition class. I packed a sandwhich of some sort of peppered turkey from the deli, with sabra roasted red pepper hummus, all stuffed into a Thomas’ whole wheat pita.  I also have a banana to eat at some point.

I think I need some tea or something i need to perk up to finish up some work!

As promised

So as promised I had a more interesting dinner and in true Lisa style I didn’t take a pic. Anyways I bought some salmon roll ups with spinach, feta, and pin nuts from whole foods. I drizzled some evoo on it and popped them in the over for 20 min and they came out pretty tasty. I ate about 1/2 of 1 and a salad with feta and 1 carrot and Annie’s Goddess Dressing. I felt bad wasting the other half and throwing it away but what can you do. I have 1 left which I won’t be able to eat tonight so I wonder if it will be bad by Friday night. I have class tonight so I had to pack a dinner.

Breakfast was over night oats which i didn’t take a pic because it looks the same as always. I’m such a lazy ass sorry! I also had a mug of coffee. Buttt I finally bought Hemp Milk. I got vanilla, very yummy! I’m a fan. I used 1/2 cups, 1/2 hemp milk soaked over night then added agave and cinnamon this morning. Very yummy as usual.

Lunch today is going to be with the boy. I’m not sure where we are going yet though.

Recap from last nights workout I managed to burn an extra 30 cals during my elliptical workout last night i was pretty pumped I stepped it up a bit. I also used 15lb weights for some of my excercises and it felt good. Im going to step it up to 10 for my bicep curls ect. I used 7.5 last night but realized i could easily step it up.

Holy Embarassment

I tend to have some bad luck on occassion and yesterday afternoon was one of those days. It’s 5 o’clock I’m trying to finish up my audit to turn in before going to the work happy hour when I get up to walk to the printer and feel my zipper in the back of my fav work dress breaking. I did a mad dash to the bathroom holding my dress shut and once I get there the entire zipper broke! The zipper was super long and ran all way down the dress. I was stuck in the bathroom thinking what the hell am I going to do??? So I waited like 20 minutes for someone to come in and thank goodness it was my coworker who turned Macgiver on my and got me a jacket and safty pins. So needless to say I didn’t go to the happy hour and went straight home changed into sweats and marched over to the Library to study for my Nutrition exam.

My nerves were a little shot so I decided I just wanted a smoothies for dinner. So I walked to smoothies king and got a 32oz Slim N Trim Vanilla, Skinny style. Which is about 360 cals but this thing was ginormous so it kept me entertained the entire time I was studying. I needed something to chew on so i ate a clif z bar when I got home from the libs.  I felt like I was back in college marching into the libs with a smoothies and sweats to tackle studying.

I feel pretty good about my exam at least.

Leftovers with some flare

So I didn’t get a picture of last nights dinner because I made Kale chips again and immediately starting diving into them. My roomie tried 1 and was totally shocked how good they were. Even 5 minutes later she was like those were really good haha.  Anyways so obviously I had Kale Chips and I also had my left over Amy’s Organics Butternut Squash Soup. These soups are good but I ate it plain the other night and was bored. So I added 2 steamed carrots and some leftover avocado I had, cinnamon, basil, and a tiny bit of minced garlic. The meal was suprisingly filling and very satisfying. I’m really enjoying throwing random crap in pots and seeing what I come up with.

At the gym last night i ran week 5 day 2 of the couch to 5k. It was suprisingly not that rough either. I thought since I haven’t been running for almost 2 weeks I would be struggling. Next run is 20 straight minutes, ahhhh!

 

Oh I almost forgot, I had a big banana with about 1 tablespoon of PB for dessert.

Sorry for not posting last night and uploading the pics for the day. I watched Gossip Girl, my latest obsession, then went over some notes talk to the bf and passed out.

I was excited to come home and find an empty house and more importantly empty kitchen to whip up some dinner. Living with 2 other girls makes the kitchen hard to come by (among other things). I finally bought some kale at the store to try Kath’s Kale chips. OMG so good! I was skeptical though I mean you are baking grass how good can that taste? Well it tasted like potato chips its nuts. I sprinkled olive oil, sea salt, and pepper and in the oven it went and 10 to 15 minutes later they were cripsy goodness. Yum! I also whipped up a super random pasta dish. I made some whole wheat pasta cut up an avocado and threw a can of tuna (for protein) in and topped it off with the remainder of the Annie’s Goddess Dressing. Sounds disgusting but it was good I promise. I brought half for lunch today which I plan on eating cold, pasta salad style.

While watching gossip girl I had a cup of tazo passion tea, and a small apple. Is anyone else obsessed with this show?

Fat Day…Actually Fat Week :/

My cooking attempt came out fantastic last night I’m 2 for 2 yay! I bought some cut up cubed butternut squash from TJ’s and then searched on the Cooking Light website for a good recipe. I decided on a risotto type dish that is actually baked in the oven. It’s a little time consuming but not too bad.

I of course made a few changes and used rosemary instead of thyme and sprinkled mozerella cheese instead of parm. I also covered it with foil when putting it in the oven which cut the cooking time down to 15 minutes and kept it moist. Oh I also threw in some of the perdue shortcuts roasted chicken. The bf requires meat in all his meals so I had to throw that one in. Anyways it turned out very very yummy!! We also drank the rest of the wine bottle since I opened it for cooking and split a piece of apple pie. I love cooking if only I had more time and money to do it everyday. I told the bf I would be willing to be a stay at home girlfriend and cook every night  haha.

On to breakfast. Usual coffee which I only ended up drinking half. Then TJ Strawberry Soy Yogurt with 1/2 of Oatmeal Crisp. I’m not a huge soy yogurt fan but this one was good I just like to switch things up sometimes. I’m out of healthier cereal and since I ordered granola planks I don’t want to buy any so I borrowed 1/2 of my roomies Oatmeal Crisp. It’s good btu at 230 cals for a cup and 20 grams of sugar I’ll pass on it next time.

Do ya’ll ever get “fat days” well I’m having a fat week! I just feel icky! I know it’s from eating unhealthy but I think having a fat week is making me eat more unhealthy. I couldn’t fit into my pencil skirt today. I weighed myself Monday and I think I was up like a ridic 8lbs. I went a little overboard this weekend but not 8lbs worth. I don’t know whats going on. Maybe its some water weight?? Bah.

Crazy Friday and a Quiet Saturday

I had a mid afternoon snack of a PB Cookie Larabar. It was good better this time around then I remembered. I think my fav is still the Coconut Cream Pie. Or maybe the chocolate coffee both are good.

Well after a totally insane day at work I was ready for a glass of wine. But before wine came a quick work out. I did my couch to 5k run which was almost 2.5 miles. I was going to do weights but the benches were taken and I didn’t feel like waiting around. I’m going to have to think of an alternate plan for fridays maybe an AM workout because the last thing you feel like doing after work on a Friday is going downstairs to the gym. I stopped by Trader Joe’s to pick up some items and wine for my friend’s house warming party and bought some sushi to eat for dinner. The sushi was interesting it was wrapped in carrot not seaweed. It was called a Sunny California Roll. It was good and a little spicy. When I say good I mean good for store bought variety.

I went to my friend’s housewarming party and drank a boat load of wine but had a great time with my girls and of course my bf. He is the best at parties with my friends he doesn’t follow me around he makes his own conversations. i love that!

Saturday morning I was incredibly hungover and was craving something bad so the bf and i went to arby’s and I got a turkey market fresh sandwhich and curly fries. I barely touched the sandwhich and devoured the fries. I also had some cookies. Not a healthy day. Then I did a makeup trial for a girl’s wedding (i’m also a makeup artist on the side sometimes for weddings) which took FOREVER so I came home starving and ate my arby’s sandwhich. It’s going to be a movie night with the bf tonight we are going to go see that George Clooney and Brad Pitt one. I’ll let you know how it is.

Sunday will be healthier and pictured I promise!

Bah…unsatisfied

So I had a really unsatisfying dinner today. As I mentioned I had to pack dinner since I had my nutrition class tonight. I packed a turkey sandwhich on ezikiel bread with 1 laughing cow cheese wedge and some texas pete sauce. By 6 o clock it tasted pretty blah. I had about 3/4 of it. I also packed some carrots and some cherry tomatoes. I ate a few of the tomatoes before i took the pic and then didn’t eat the rest. I ate half the carrots before class and half after. Then of course the Chocolate coffee larabar. mmm. Then after class I got snacky. I think it’s because 1) dinner sucked 2) i was tired and a little cranky. So it lead me to over eat. I had an unpictured english muffin with PB, glass of milk, anddd a vitamin muffin top. I didn’t need that at all and shouldn’t have eaten it but what can you do.

Class tonight was interesting as always. I love my nutrition class. Today’s subject was Digestion. I learned that a lot of times food allergies that appear when we are older in our 20’s are from damage done to your digestive system. Which is totally interesting to me since I developed a pork allergy within the past year. But my mom got the same thing in her 20’s so I’m thinking mine is genetics. The prof mentioned that processed foods and diet can cause the damage to your digestive system though. Oh and 1 more thing and I promise I’ll stop talking about my class because I could go on forever. I learned that your GI tract has its own nervous system so “gut feelings” really do exist! Ok done promise. Class was cancelled for next week and I’m going to miss the following week because I have to travel for work.

Anyways i’m ready for this work week to end I’m going to try to get into work tomorrow at 7:30 to get some things out and done by noon yuck!

Cookie Craving

I had an intense day at work I’m swamped! Is it Friday yet?

I had a snack of some sort of plum not sure what kind and 1% cottage cheese

At work we usually have cookie day every Wednesday afternoon at 3 but apparantly they were “low in inventory” so no cookie day. After a stressful day I needed my cookie fix so I wandered over to the evil vending machine and came back with Milano. I only had 2 of the 4 in the package so I was good! Yay self control. I’m glad I did because it totally kicked my craving and i think prevented me from going nuts tonight.

I had a good sweaty workout. I’m on week f4 day 1 of the couch to 5K. I did almost 2.5 miles today and let me tell you I am def not a runner. I also did my weight routine. I’ve been focusing on getting a lot of good stretching in after each workout too. Here is the link for the couch to 5k in case you have no idea what i’m talking about:

On to dinner, since I had a big lunch and several snacks I decided a light dinner would be good. I had a banana that was almost a gonner so smoothie it was! I used Jay Robb’s whey protein Vanilla, 1 cup light vanilla soy milk, and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and cinamon to spice things up (literally). I really like the Jay Robb protein powders they are quite tasty and use stevia. It’s a little pricey that is the only downfall. I tried the chocolate and it tasted too much like stevia for my liking. I like the vanilla way better. For some reason I think stevia has a chemical taste. Ironic right? Considering it is supposed to be the natural one and to me splenda doesn’t taste chemically and it has tons!

I also just saw the high fructose corn syrup commericial I’ve heard all the buzz about. RIDICULOUS! They are trying to say it is healthy. Here’s the site:

I cooked!

First of all I had a snack of some simple harvest oatmeal at work around 4:30 because my stomach was growling and I was going straight to the gym after work. Has anyone noticed that simple harvest doesn’t get to the same consistancy as most oats? Its still good just different. I feel like I’m eating a hybrid of oats and granola.

Wow I’m not going to get an award for food photography thats for sure. sorry guys.

Anyways on to dinner. I had some extra time tonight since the bf is traveling for work. So I decided to cook I had some squash and some pasta so then I started throwing things in the pot and it came out sooo yummy.  I can’t even type out the recipe because I tend to not measure things and just eyeball it.

I chopped up some yellow squash and grilled it on the george forman grill. In the meantime I cooked some whole wheat pasta. Once both the squash and pasta were done I added some cherry tomatos, feta cheese, artichoke hearts, olive oil to taste, salt and pepper to taste, and some minced garlic. It turned out really really good. This is a keeper and so easy. I had my dish below as well as seconds (oops!).

My plan for the rest of the evening is to work on some more flash cards for nutrition class and watch some on shows I dvr’d. We just got dvr and i’m obsessed. how did i live without it!
