Welcome Back!

Thanksgiving was a ton of fun except for the fact that I was totally sick from a really bad cold the entire time. This may have helped me in the over eating area though since my appetite was down. The bf and I drove down to his parent’s house on Thanksgiving morning and went to the Thanksgiving celebration. His mom rented out an old train station it was so cute. They had tons of food the usual turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, amazing sweet potato casserole, corn bread, mac and cheese and tons of pies. The party was train themed and they had an amazing train cake that was delish. I believe the cake was pistachio flavored! mmm. Then we went out with the bfs friends that night and took it easy on Friday. Went to the VA Tech vs UVA game on Sat where VA Tech won! Such a good game. But it was freezing! It started sleeting after the game too.  Such a fun weekend!

I weighed myself this morning and I’m only up 1lb not bad! But I’m still down 5lbs total. So I’m going to be good the next few weeks to try to get to 5 more lbs off! No gym for me today though I’m still feeling pretty icky!

I unfortunately consumed my lunch sitting in front of the comp at my desk. Not that exciting huh? I had a hard time remembering what I had on my plate at work after having a few days off so I was trying to get caught up.

I also munched on a lot of handfuls of popcorn! I was in my boss’ office and we were walking and talking on our way to go meet someone and we stopped by our main front office where they had some fresh popcorn. We have a popcron cart in our office and they used to make it 3 times a week but the last few months they’ve cut back drastically and rarely ever make it anymore.

I’ve also been consuming a lot of Sugar Free Halls cough drops so I don’t annoy everyone around me at work with my coughing! Boo colds!

My plan is to go grocery shopping and then plop on the couch for some gossip girl tonight as well as proof read my paper for my Nutrition class thats due on Thursday!

I just wanted to say bye and I hope ya’ll have a fab and happy thanksgiving! T-minus 54 minutes until I’m dont for the day haha.

As previously mentioned I went to Chipotle witht he bf. i didn’t eat much though my appetite has been meh today. I think I’m coming down with a cold or flu. Bad timing considering it’s a holiday weekend right?! It will not stop my from enjoying some good old southern cooking tomorrow though!

PS The only thing I’m craving today is PB&Co peanut butter because it has been on EVERYONE’S blogs this week. That stuff is like drugs its so addicting. I love it but can’t buy it because without a doubt I would sit there and eat out of the jar all day.

I prob won’t be blogging until Monday so I’ll give ya’ll the recap!

Our office closes at 3 today I’m soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready for a few days off.  Last night I did about 30 min on the elyptical while still reading Twilight. I’ve been reading it every spare second I have! So addicting! Then I veggied on the couch while I ate some steamed green beans and my NS Ravioli and watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Special. Holy Drama it was so entertaining. I’m a sucker for these shows! I of course also watched the season premiere of the new season of Real Housewives of Orange County too. FYI if you are a fan of the show I heard from my bff who lives in Vegas they are doing a Vegas Housewives too. They are filming right now.

Ok on to bfast. I made myself a little yogurt parfait with a Chobani Vanilla, NS granola, and a banana. With a cup of coffee of course.

For lunch today I’m meeting up with the bf. They are cleaning out the office refridgerators so we couldn’t use them today which made packing my lunch a problem. So instead we are going to Chipotle. I know not the healthiest but I do get the burrito bowl with chicken, black beans, rice, lettuce, and fresh tomato salsa. No cheese, sour cream, or guac.  I’m a huge fan of those items but if you are watching your cal intake its better to skip them. And honestly its just as good without them. I would assume what I get prob runs about 500 cals if you eat the entire thing.

I also may go for a run when I get home from work today. Or at least a nice power walk since I have a hard time running in the cold. Gets to my throat. I was also happily pleased this morning I weighed myself when I got out of the shower and I was down to 142. I think its because I’ve been weighing myself with clothes on lately since my scale is in our half bath not in our main shared bathroom in our house. So I think I weigh a little less than I have been thinking. Whoohoo!

Turkey Day Plans!

I’m going home with my bf for Thanksgiving and I’m totally excited about this since my family has never really celebrated Thanksgiving in a big way. My parents were born in Argentina and Cuba but have lived here for geez like 40 or 50 years. They moved in there teens. But anyways as a result tgiving was never a huge thing in my household. But my bf has a big ol’ southern all american fam that go all out and rent out a place for their huge fam and everyone brings stuff. Hence why I’m totally pumped! Then we’re going to the Virginia Tech vs University of Virginia football game on Sat. Huge rivals since they are the 2 big VA schools. The bf went to VT. My college roomie and her fam will be at the game too so it should be fun to tailgate! We are going to freeze though but thats ok because my mom sent me a suprise present of Burberry ear muffs yesterday! She said she found them at the outlet at home for $50. Nuts! FYI winter clothes in Florida is always ridiculously cheap for the obvious reason. So she always sends me stuff when she finds a good deal.

Don’t Kill the Messenger!

I’m so freakin ready for 3pm tomorrow when our office closes! Man on man being an auditor is just no fun most the of time haha. I work internally for a company now not a firm. And well out external auditors one of the big 4 which shall remain nameless has asked my group (me) to do the dirty work of obtaining a bunch of documents they need from people they can’t get a hold of. So I’m just the messenger but man I have gotten the most nasty emails from people.  I just don’t understand how in a work environment people will be flat out rude via email when it can easily be forwarded to their boss. Something to keep in mind!

Anyways enough ranting about work. My lunch eats consisted of NS Veggie Beef Soup and a salad with Annie’s Light Rasberry Vinagarette and a Morning Star Veggie Burger. Just the regular kind this time. The pizza ones are wayyyyy better. I thought I should switch it up so I bought the regular ones instead this time.

This afternoon I wasn’t that hungry weird right? Oh yea maybe it was that pumpkin scone I scarfed down. Whoops! It was good though but very high in cals. I think those things run about 400 or more cals. So that was my dessert for the day.  Anyways I did eat a little something just now a 1% cottage cheese and some get this, Sugar Cookie tea! I found it I was so excited!

You should be able to find it at your reg grocery store since its made by Celestial Seasonings. Although I found it in a separate display not with the teas. Something to keep in mind. They also had some other awesome sounding flavors like Sugar Plum, Pepermint something or other, Gingerbread.

One thing I did notice and wanted to take a pic of is that the tea bags don’t have that much team in them. So I actually have been putting 2 in my tea. I prefer a stronger taste in my tea though just a personal pref. An example of stronger teas are the Tazo brand.

Sugar Overdose

I was supposed to have lunch with some of the girls from work but everyone was too busy trying to get stuff done so next week wouldnt be nuts. So since I didn’t bring a lunch I met up with the bf (he works down the street from me) and we went to the expensive mall’s food court. Which is fancy. They have the best salad. I had what was called a bistro salad which had dried cherries (the best part!!!), tomatos, beets, sunflower seeds, and possibly some more items I don’t remember. I had it with Rasberry Vinagarette and a piece of flat bread. It was good but afterwards I felt kind of meh.

You know whats funny about blogs? You can always see what color nail polish everyone is wearing haha. Mine is looking rough as you can see by the chipped polish on my thumb. But as I previously mentioned I have a mani pedi coming my way this weekend :)

I was feeling better this afternoon and for some reason decided to dive into this sugary cinamony icing pastry that was in the office kitchen which I did not need. It wasn’t even worth it because I felt sick after eating it.

Oh well not the end of the world right? Its around 4pm now and I’m feeling better. I think I’m going to try to get in some cardio at the gym with more Twilight! No weights for me. I feel paranoid now after Monday and having all the Personal Trainers watching me. I’m not a fan of Personal Trainers mostly because I’ve never had a good one. They all over worked me so I couldn’t walk for 1 week and then never wanted to do those excercises again. I think a good trainer works you just enough to feel good and want to come back but pushes you slightly. Anyways since my gym is a personal training gym they are all just standing around waiting for their clients like circling around me. Makes me nervous! I might try to do some push ups, crunches, and that type of stuff though.  I know I sound stupid but again oh well haha.

Today’s menu consisted of Dinner for lunch again. I have class tonight so I figured this might make things a little easier.

Check out the 16 grams of protein and 4grams of fiber in this baby. I wonder what they put in it to make the protein content so high. They def do it to keep you full and I must admit it works.

Birds Eye, I love you!

I had steamed brussel sprouts on the side. I used one of those single serving Birds Eye frozen packets. I love love love these things best invention ever. If only they had some more veggie varieties.

I’ve been in a munchy mood and craved some more veggies an hour after lunch. I think i’m used to my lunch salads. So I went downstairs to the deli and got a salad with mostly lettuce, spinach, few mushrooms, 2 pieces of cucumbers. Super simple and small but good.

Posting this makes me realize how BORING my food has been lately. I just love yogurt, and cottage cheese so I’ve been eating them every single freaking day. I think next time i go to the grocery store I’ll try to add some variaty in my life.

Bah I just ruined the tea as I was posting I was like I wonder if it would taste good with half and half. Yuck nope didn’t taste good. So I only drank half up until now when I ruined it. I love Tazo teas though they are my fav and you don’t need to add anything to them like sugar or honey or umm half and half. 

I’m such a rebel I’m having english breakfast tea in the afternoon.

I’m planning on doing 30 min on the eliptical before I have to head over to class at 7. I’m super excited to workout tonight because I have excellent reading material! My roomie let me borrow Twilight! After my workout I’ll munch on an NS Fundge Graham bar (this is a lunch bar) and a Lemon Chiffon Yogurt.

 

Crazy Day=Triple Post

Lets rewind. Yesterday afternoon I had a snack of a pear

How do you like the action shot? haha

After work I headed to the gym for some cardio. I ran for 15 minutes and had to stop. My lungs were burning! I can’t run outside in the cold but I ran on a tredmill last night. Maybe the gym was really cold. I was chilly.  I think I’m coming to the conclusion as Jenna did on her blog Eat Live Run, that I sadly am not a runner. It is just one of those things that I have never been great at and thats ok. Anyways I jumped on the eliptical and did the intervals selection for another 15min.

As previously mentioned it was the bfs birthday and he LOVESSSSPF Changs. He loves Asian food, I always joke that he was Asian in another life. His mom told me once when he was a kid she had to stir fry all the veggies or he wouldnt eat them. haha Anyways so he ordered his favswhich we split, Crispy Honey Chicken, and Beef and Broccoli, and brown rice. I had 4 bites of each, literally I counted them to keep my portions down. As well as some brown rice with soy suace. We also had the best wine. It was a Pinot Noir from Oregon called A to Z, very yummy and fruity warmed me right up and well umm got me tipsey. I was rambling like crazy by the end of the meal. For dessert we of course had cookie cake which was really good! (see yesterday’s post for a pic). Fun times.

Now for today!

I had a dermatologist appointment this morning so I was running around. I made sure to eat something before I left though since my appointment was at 9.

I had NS cereal. Here is the cereal by itself to get an idea of the portion size.

Here is the light vanilla soy milk I always refer to which I ate with my cereal. Its just Safeway’s O Organic brand. It’s cheap and good and low on calories and gives me the sweetness I like. Another good brand is 8th Continental Light Vanilla Soy and of course Silk brand but I can’t find their lighter versions very often.  I’m also a fan of Almond Breeze Almond milk but haven’t had it in awhile. The original is actually my fav and is only 60 cals per cup.

The milk next to it is my roomies milk :) I’m the only soy lover in the household.

Once I got into work it was aroun 10:30 and time for my mid morning snackaroo. I had a Lucerine Key Lime Pie flavor. It was pretty good. Better than yesterday’s thats for sure.

Now you see that cup of coffee next to it. i didn’t get to drink it. I had one sip and then was running around trying to get something for my VP boss lady. I had one sip and it was meh anyways. The decaf coffee in my office tastes funky. I don’t know if decaf just tastes different in general. I haven’t had enough of it to know!

Lunch!

For lunch I had my last bit of salad blend withof course a Morning Star Pizza Veggie Burger, also my last one. I need to run to the store tonight and restock. I topped it off with Annie’s Light Raspberry Vinaigrette.

The Rasberry Vinagertte was good. I like the color in the bottle haha it was pretty. It was runnier than I expected but it is a vinagarette. You can def taste the vinagar and a slight sweetness. Overall I like it but I need to try it again to be sure!

The second part of my Lunch was NS Chicken pasta dish that I can’t remember the name of now. It was ok.

I also had a yogurt. As mentioned yesterday I bought a bunch of the store brand types which do not have the best nutritionals.

To be honest this flavor was not up to my liking. It tasted very fake and had weird fruit in it that was dry. It’s weird because the other flavors I tried didn’t have that icky taste. This yogurt is made with splenda FYI

So moral of the story, It won’t kill me and I did save some money so every now and then it’s ok :)

 

Lunchhhhhh

I had my my recent obsession Morning Star Veggie Burger the Pizza flavor kind over a bed of salad and underneath the patty has the Annie’s Woodstock Dressing. MMMM good salad. I used the last of the Woodstock but not to worry I have another Annie’s flavor to try some sort of light rasberry kind. I’m also obsessed with Annie’s dressings. FYI.

After my salad I had an NS Cheesy Homestyle Potatoes. AKA powdered potatoes you add water too. They are ok but I ended up eating only half of it. I wasn’t feeling it. And I’m trying to listen to my hunger cue’s. So why waste the cals on something not orgasmicaly yummy like my salad right?

Appetite vs Hunger

In nutrition class we learned that appetitle is pyschological, and hunger is physiological. Makes sense really. Today I feel like both my appetite and hunger have been off.  No scratch that its prob just my appetite. I was kind of snacky this morning and was munching on flipz chocolate covered pretzels, yea thats NOT on the diet. That took away my appetite for real food and I didn’t have a real breakfast. I did get myself to eat my NS lunch which was cheese tortillini and a side salad with just lettuc, Morning Star veggie burger (so good I need to buy more of thise pizza or whatever flavor I ate the last one today) topped with Woodstock dressing.  The salad really hit the spot. I just ate at my desk so around 1:30 I wandered over to the mall and brought my notes to study and got a tall coffee with soy milk. !) I barely drank this and was not in the mood for this after I bought it 2) I need to stop going to starbucks so much! I’m bad about that during the colder months.

I just ate a little container of South Beach Diet 1% cottage cheese around 3:30. I tend to get this brand because its the only one I’ve seen at my grocery stores that is 1%. Although I’m obsessed with Friendship Whipped cottage cheese but I do better with individual containers or I’ll sit there and eat the whole thing. Gross I know.

I havent eaten any fruit today so I’ll prob have some as a snack before class tonight. I feel a little more ready for my test after the lunch break study session.

Random note: I’m kind of disappointed that we didn’t touch on the eating disorders part of this last chapter we read in Nutrition class. I thought it was odd she skipped it all together. I obviously, as you can tell by looking at the blog struggle with binge eating. So I was hoping as my teacher is an RD that she would hit on the topic a bit. Oh well. The book didn’t have much insight really.
