Back to normal

So my brother left this morning so things should get back to normal. Except I need to hit up Whole Foods desperately for some veggies and fruit!

Last night I went with my bro and bf to get bbq per the boys requests. I got a pulled chicken sandwhich and had a few bites of potato salad and corn pudding. It was of course way too yummy. 

This morning my appetite was missing for some reason. Weird. I had a glass of milk and then my NS breakfast which was a cranberry orange pastry.  I knew I had to eat something. For lunch I had NS Split Pea Soup and a side salad with cucumbers, onions, and 2 tiny pieces of beets. I love beets for some reason. All with some sesame asiany salad dressing. Now I’m stuffed.

I have 2 plums and a yogurt waiting for me for an afternoon snack.

I have not gotten to go to the gym in FOREVER its been like over a week I think since last week was pretty irregular too. But it’s been crazy and I loved spending time with the fam. i never get to see them since my parents are in Fl and bro in SC and I’m in DC. So it was worth it. I’ll get back to the gym geez prob not until Friday. I have to study study study tonight for my test tomorrow. I could use a little r&r too maybe I can squeeze in some time wth the DVR and watch the multiple shows I missed (Brothers and Sisters, Gossip Girl, The Hills) I’m such a girl and live with 3 girls ya’ll should see our DVR list its all chic shows. So good though.

Man I miss my fam already :( I guess Christmas is only a few short months away at least.

One Down One to Go

My grandpa seems to be looking better and better every day. The doc said he is doing well too. After going to the hospital I took my mom bro, roomie, and bf to dinner. Well actually my mom treated us. We went to a mediteranean place which was really good i had a pita with a little hummus and for dinner i had schwarma which is like roasted meat and rice with a tahini sauce. very yummy I didn’t even make a dent in the plate though and had a ton left over but felt full. I still managed to be down a tiny bit today. My official weigh in day is going to be Thursday since thats when I officially started the diet except with the fam in town usually dinners or 1 meal has been eaten out somewhere.  No biggy though.

Anyways mom is back in Florida I drove her to the airport this morning. My bro is staying an extra day and leaving tomorrow morning. He requested to go to a bbq place for dinner where they have pulled chicken and pork sandwhiches. So that will be my meal out today. Then I have got to study because I have a Nutrition test on Thursday. Its only on 2 chapters this time though so I think 2 days of studying should be fine.  

I’m exhausted i can’t wait to sleep in this weekend and catch up on all the lost sleep.

The Fam

So I have to apologize for the hiatus things have been nuts. My grandfather had bypass surgery about 2 weeks ago (he’s 92) and has been in and out of the hospital. He was doing well then (sorry if this is gross) but where they opened him up the wound got infected and had to go back to the hospital. When you are that old your body doesn’t fight infection or heal quickly. So it’s rough. My mom flew up from Florida on Saturday and my big brother drove up from South Carolina. So it was a whirlwind of a weekend. I had to clean up on Friday and get ready for everyone. Then pick up my mom from the airport come back meet my brother get his dog Dixie all settled into my house and off to the hospital we went. My grandpa was in poor spirits and so weak but by yesterday he seemed much better and happy to see my mom and brother he even ate a decent amount including 2 pieces of cheesecake. At 92 who cares what you eat! So i’m relieved he is at least a little more chipper and has a little more energy. I unfortunately had to go to work today and am not sure when my bro and mom are leaving so this week my posts might be sparse again. I’m sorry! But fam comes first.

This morning I got into work around 7am so I could leave early and had a mug of coffee (it was still dark out how depressing) and a bannana. I just ate a TJ’s Honey Greek Yogurt around 8. I also have my Nutrisystem breakfast which I’ll save for mid morning its an Apple Scone. One of my fav’s from their breakfast. As for the diet I did very well this weekend I ate out but didn’t over do it at all and found ways to eat my NS food for the most part.  I have to say I’m totally exhausted from bein hostess to spending my weekend at the hospital (it makes me so tense being there) and driving everyone around. I may need another cup of coffee this morning.

Slow Week

I don’t really have anything exciting to report. Although I did think of what I want to be for halloween! My new obsession is the show on Bravo The Rachel Zoe Project. She has my dream job. She’s a celebrity stylist who gets to play with clothes and accessories. How do you get into thos careers? I don’t get it. I’m obviously in the wrong city for it. DC isn’t known for its fashion. Actually its known for its lack there of. Anyways I’m going to dress up as Rachel Zoe for halloween. I was trying to get my bf to dress up as her assistant Brad but he said hell no. So oh well. I think it would be easy to pull off just need a faux fur vest, big purse, and big sunglasses. All easy stuff. I know most people arent going to know who i am but meh. I’ll also be warm for once on halloween. i have no desire to dress scandelous this year. Prob because of the weight gain issue.

Still waiting for Nutrisystem (NS) to get delivered so I can start on my diet. I haven’t had much energy to go to the gym this week. Just worn out physically and mentally I think. So I may just walk around the mall clear my head. I want to see if I can find any other halloween ideas. I like to make my own costumes instead of buying the packaged ones.

Dallas Hiatus

Sorry folks I’ve been crazy busy this weekend with my friends in town and now I have to go to Dallas for work for the week. So I’m not going to be blogging much if at all this week. Sorry for the hiatus but I’m going to be working by butt off. I’ll be back on Friday sometime. I’ll try to give you some recaps during the week if I get a chance. I packed my work out clothes for the hotel gym though! And I’m hoping to get some good Tex-Mex while I’m in Dallas mmm. Anyways have a good week ya’ll!

Working on perfection

So I attempted to make overnight oats. This is a work in progress for me I can’t get it down pat. This time I tried 1/2 rolled oats, 1/2 light vanilla soymilk. Well sleepy me decided to hydrate them a little this morning and I poured too much milk and they turned out watery. I can’t get a good consistency going. I also added a packet of splenda, and cinnamon and half a mushy banana. I ended up throwing out the 2nd half it was a gonner way too mushy. I also had the usual coffee, with splenda, and french vanilla creamer. Too much splenda this morning I know. I didn’t think about it. I try to limit myself to only using it once per day tops.

 

I also forgot to tell ya’ll how good the Kind Fruit and Nut Banana & Oatbran bar was. Not that filling but it had 4 grams of fiber. Sugar was kind of high but to be expected I guess considering the ingredients. But the best part is that it had coconut in it! Oh it was so yummy. I was curious and went on their website and most of their bars interestingly enough have coconut in them. So if you aren’t a fan these aren’t the bars for you.

PB and Banana Goodness

Good Morning! I woke up super groggy and sleepy this morning. I was all cozy in bed and didn’t want to get out. Hence why it became a coffee type morning. Had the usual mug of coffee with a french vanilla coffee mate creamer and a splenda. I know soon as I hit the part of my nutrition class where we talk about artificial sweetners I’m going to get grossed out and try to cut back again. Although I don’t use them as much as I used to just in my coffee.

To switch things up for breakfast this morning I made a Thomas’ Light English Muffin and smeared probably about a tablespoon of Crazy Richards Natural PB and cut up half of a huge banana to make a little sandwhich. I then ate the other half of the banana too. Has anyone tried Crazy Richards PB? I really like it. It might become a staple for me. I love PB so I’m always trying different brands. But this one stays super creamy. Oh and I trick that I heard about for natural PBs is to store them upside down in the fridge to keep it creamy. It really works I think it keeps the oils spread out through the whole jar.

Kind of looks like a McDonalds egg sandwhich huh? haha but its def PB and banana!

Good morning!

So I’m new to this blogging thing and haven’t quite figured out exactly how to use this site so bare with me! You can see my whole background in my about me section.

Well t-minus 2 days until i will be at the beach! I’m exciting but dreading getting into a bathing suit! I haven’t been sticking with my calorie limit this week. I have been working out like crazy which I believe has helped me not gain anything! I think a lot of people don’t realize that you can over do it on healthy food too. Overeating is not restricted to junk food. When I was home in Florida last month I baked some vegan banana chocolate chip cookies (which were amazing) but my dad (who is very overweight) kept eating them and I’m like dad you are going overboard and hes like no but they are healthy so its ok.  I tried to explain to him that everything has calories but he didn’t pay much attention.  Anyways so basically I have not lost any weight in a long time.  Again you can look at my about me section and get an idea of my up and down weight.  For some reason I’m really good and stick to it for a week lose weight then sabatoge myself overeat and gain it back. It is definitely a mental struggle against overeating.

Today I started off with:

 1/2 cup of oatmeal

 with 1 tablespoon of honey

and 1/4 of a cup of Trader Joe’s (TJ) Nuts Over Rasberries trail mix.

I have been playing with my oatmeal lately trying to get the right combination down. I make my oatmeal with water and use the quick oats. I still need to try making it with some milk and maybe even trying rolled oats instead of the quick kind (they have a different consistancy).

I also had 1 cup of Soy Slender Vanilla. I really like this soy milk its sweet but low in calories. You will also see me drinking a lot of Almond Breeze Almond Milk.

I would like to note I’m not lactose or vegetarian or vegan but you will see a lot of those products on my blog. I read the book “Skinny Bitch” recently and decided to try to cut down on some of my animal products. I also actually prefer the taste better. I’ve never been a big “meat” person and I’m allergic to pork. So the change isnt that big to me really, and like I said I’m by far not vegan.

 

I’m going to try to get some pictures up here from time to time. But will probably not get a chance to take a picture of everything I eat.
